Cycling socks

Well -fitting cycling socks are almost as important as good and sturdy shoes! Cycling socks are typically made from artificial fiber or colder socks from merino wool. The most important task of the socks is to move moisture away from the skin and thus maintain a pleasant feeling in the legs.

Well-fitting cycling socks are almost as important as good, sturdy shoes! With bad socks, you can ruin the feel and properties of even good shoes, and cause hefty blisters.

Cycling socks are typically made from synthetic fibres, or merino wool for colder weather. The main function of synthetic fibres in socks is to wick moisture away from the skin and thus maintain a comfortable feel on the feet, while merino wool provides warmth in cold weather. Moist feet are more prone to chafing and blisters. Technical socks have a snug fit to keep them in place. Socks have special areas of tension, for example at the top of the foot, to improve the fit. Rolling socks are not part of cycling. In cycling, distances can be long, so a big part of performance is having equipment that feels comfortable.

Another trump card for synthetic fibres, alongside moisture wicking, is abrasion resistance. These, if anything, are true "wash and wear" socks.

From short, sneaker-length socks to ankle-length, you'll find options from UphillSport cycling socks.
