The first layer on the inside of the sock, closest to the skin, is polypropylene, which effectively transfers moisture from the skin to the next layers. The middle layer of the sock is typically merino wool or cotton, which is designed to warm and evaporate moisture. Polyamide is used to add flexibility to the sock.
